Introducing Alex Strickland
Hi! I’m Alex and I joined Team Whutuporo in July of 2023. Initially starting part time as an intern, I have been working full time as an accountant since January of 2024 and loving every second! Some of you may also recognise me from my oscar worthy performances on the Whutuporo Tiktok page, making sure we bring the laughs to the accounting world.
I grew up in Lower Hutt, moving to Christchurch in 2020 to attend the University of Canterbury, and despite returning home almost immediately due to all the lockdowns, I have since made Christchurch my home, although I will always be loyal to the Hurricanes despite the efforts of the rest of the team. I graduated from university in 2024 and am currently working towards becoming a Chartered Accountant, it can be a challenge, but one I enjoy as I love pushing myself, learning new things, and growing both personally and professionally.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my partner Jess, there’s nothing better than going out and eating lots of food or going to watch a good movie. Occassionally I will let the romance blossom and pack a picnic and head to our secret picnic spot together. We also have two cats coming up on a year old who enjoy life by chewing and shredding everything in the house. When spending time at home you can find me screaming at the TV while watching the UFC or keeping very busy on the PlayStation.
I have a passion for AI and bit of an AI nerd. If someone comes out I am all over it and testing the AI any way that I can. As a result I have been named the AI Champion for Whutuporo. If you need to know anything about AI then I am the man for you.
2025 is here, and I’m ready for whatever comes next. Looking forward to a great year ahead with all of you!
